OLD WAVERLEY HOTEL, Edinburgh – A Smart Stay in the City

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were considerably large with a spectacular view of the Scott's Monument and the city, but the noise level was a little disruptive at times. Despite some disturbances, the comfortable bed allowed me to sleep well after the initial noise-filled night.

My stay at the hotel was quite pleasant overall. The rooms, although not very clean with hairs in the bed, were really comfortable, clean, and quiet. I did notice another room with no number on it, which I think could have been staff quarters, but the good view and the bathtub were a welcome treat for foot-weary tourists.

The hotel is situated in an ideal location, perfect for exploring both the New Town and Old Town of the city. The rooms, although a bit small, were nice and clean with good facilities. The staff, particularly in the restaurant, were very helpful and friendly. However, the dining experience fell a bit short with limited fresh fruit options. The hotel's facilities were well-maintained and convenient.

The staff is exceptionally polite, helpful, and cheerful, providing top-notch service. The dining experience offers a nice selection, though some items could be improved. My stay at the hotel was a mix of ups and downs. The power shower in the room was fantastic, but the view of an old dirty fire escape through the small, slam window was quite disappointing. The noisy early hours due to the bins being emptied were a downside, but overall, the experience was standard.

The hotel had a wonderful location, just across the road from the railway, making it brilliant for train travelers. I had an incredible view of Edinburgh Castle which made our last night in Scotland very memorable. The staff, from reception to wait staff to housekeeping, were very friendly and helpful. However, the rooms are dated and smell old, which was a bit of a downside.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was clean, with a large en suite bathroom and a great view of the castle, although it was a bit small. The staff were all incredibly helpful, especially the night porter who saved us when we locked our keys in! The location was excellent for exploring Edinburgh, with everything we needed within walking distance. The dining experience was good with gluten-free options, and the buffet style allowed us to choose exactly what we wanted. Overall, a great value for the money.
